Irene Rose Bittner Beckman was born in Gary, Indiana on June 25, 1929, the second of nine children born to Emeran and Josephine Gisi Bittner. She was raised in Porter, Indiana, where she lived until 1950, when she went to work at Old Faithful Village in Yellowstone National Park. There she met Ercil Beckman and they married on March 24, 1951 in Quincy, Illinois. They lived twelve years in Ottumwa, Iowa; thirty-six years in Colorado Springs and sixteen years in Cañon City, Colorado. They had four children, Ronald (deceased), Dale (Margaret) of Fort Collins, Larry (deceased) and Karen Newstrom (Bob) of Duluth, Minnesota. She moved to Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins after Ercil's death in September 2015. She went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the age of 92.
Besides her son and daughter, she is also survived by eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother (Bernard Bittner), and three sisters (Patricia Blumer, Sister Bernita Marie Bittner, and Kathleen Kolb), a sister-in law (Lareva Glessner) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Fort Collins Good Samaritan (508 W Trilby Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80525) with a reception to directly follow there. If you wish to join virtually, please follow this live stream link:
