Irene Lucy Caolo

Irene Caolo was born on May 7th 1922 to John and Angelina Caolo in Brooklyn, New York and passed away on Sunday, March 23rd 2014 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Irene attended St. Theresa's Elementary School and Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in Brooklyn. While she was in her twenties, Irene moved to White Plains, New York. She worked for the non-profit Cerebral Palsy Foundation and later with Chrysler Automotive as an executive secretary for many years. Irene was a devout Catholic, making her faith and walk with God most important above all. She was a long-time and active parishioner at St. Anthony Parish in White Plains, NY and St. Joseph's Parish in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was a loving care-giver, and with her sister, Genevieve, took care of their mother during the last five years of her life. Irene moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2001 with her sister, Genevieve, to be close to her nieces and nephews. Throughout her life Irene enjoyed nature hikes, going to the beach, traveling, touring the countryside, shopping, reading (especially history) and cooking for all to enjoy (she also loved going out to eat!). Irene was a very generous person and was always there for anyone in need especially for family and friends. She had an enduring and endless love for children and animals. Irene had the most beautiful and elegant handwriting, a long lost art. Family, friends and care-givers will miss Irene’s loving, sweet, always cheerful and funny personality even in the hardest of times. She always had a positive word or compliment for all. Aunt Irene, you will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her sister “Aunt Jenny” in 2006, with whom she lived for so many years, and by her brothers, Joseph, Michael and Carmine Caolo and two nephews, John and Michael Caolo Jr. Irene is survived by nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Tuttle and husband Norman of Long Island, NY, Mary Ann Bjornsen and husband Robert of Ft. Collins, CO, Francis Caolo and wife Jo Ann of Weston, CT, Michelle Caolo of Ft. Collins, CO and Janet Tanski and husband Richard of Fort Collins. Irene was a great aunt and great, great aunt to many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 pm Friday, April 4th, 2014 at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Ft. Collins, with recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 PM Friday. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 5 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish at 5450 S. Lemay Ave, Fort Collins. Entombment will follow the Mass at Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum. The family would like to thank Shores Family Dentistry, Seven Lakes Care, Right At Home, and Seniors-Helping-Seniors for the care and support that Irene received. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Abbey of St. Walburga, Larimer County Humane Society, or the charity of your choice in care of Goes Funeral Care.
