Irene Soraci, age 89 of Loveland, Colorado died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at North Shore Health & Rehab in Loveland. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, Dec. 15th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 West 12th St. Loveland. Interment will be later at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Irene Troisi, formerly known as Yola, was born July 12, 1921 in New York, New York to Ernest and Guilia Troisi. She grew up in the Bronx, graduated from High School in Manhattan and attended business school. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in New York City. On October 27, 1946 she married Paul Emil Soraci in Manhattan and together they had two children, Paul and Janice. The family settled in Staten Island where she worked alongside her husband, Paul in the family business he started known as Paul's Jewelers in Great Kills. They were active members of St. Clare's Catholic Church on Staten Island and she also kept busy as a volunteer in Richmond Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary, while raising their two children. In 1978 when she and Paul retired she shed her name Yola for her much preferred middle name, Irene. They first moved to Berthoud followed by settling in Loveland where they became active members of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Charities Women; House of Neighborly Service; the Garden Club; Welcome Wagon; and volunteered at the Chilson Senior Center. Irene enjoyed gardening and exercising. She made many friends along the way with her water aerobics and bridge club. She was a gracious hostess and loved to cook and entertain. Irene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Paul; their son, Paul, and his wife, Lynne of Fort Collins; daughter, Janice, and her fiancé, Ernest Skip Poole, of Hackettstown, NJ; and two grandsons, Logan and Graham Soraci. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Mario and William Troisi.
