Irmgard (Irma) C. Golke died July 27, 2011 in Fort Collins, Colorado, at the age of 98. She was born on October 11, 1912 in Stralsund, Germany, on the Baltic Sea, to Karl Albert Camin and Berta Emma Schult. At age eleven Irma came to the U.S. where she lived most of her life in Chicago as part of "The Greatest Generation". Irma worked as a telephone operator during WW II, as a retail clerk at Ben Franklin's for 15 years, and as a clerk for Allied Van Lines. Leonard L. Golke and Irma were married in 1938 and spent 56 years together in Chicago, Florida, Arkansas and Boyne City Michigan, until his passing on September 27, 1994. Irma came to Fort Collins in 1996 to be near her son Leonard and wife Sue. She loved going to the mountains and playing with her grand and great-grand children. Irma is survived by one son, Leonard (Sue) Golke of Fort Collins; four grandchildren, Brad (Anne) Golke of Charlotte North Carolina, Angela (Jerry) Smith of Fort Collins, Jill (Peter) Spurlin of Fort Collins and John (Deana) Golke of Scottsdale Arizona; and seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Grant, Riley, Madison, Cole, Elle and Elizabeth. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 3rd at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church located on the corner of Harmony and LeMay in Ft. Collins. She will be buried in Boyne City, Michigan. Irma's family requests that any memorial donations be made to Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 4501 South Lemay Ave., Ft. Collins, CO 80525.
