James Carton was born on Thanksgiving day 11/28/1942 in Boulder Colorado. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1961 and joined the National Guard serving for two years. He then joined the Navy and served proudly aboard the USS Rich and USS Conway where he was one of our heroic "Tin Can Sailors". Jim's 8 years in the Navy included a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from both the Army and the Navy. After his service to the United States, he began working in construction. He is survived by his wife Georgia, whom he married in 1973. Other survivors include brothers Donald and George and his sister Jana. He has many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Howard. A viewing will be held from 5pm to 8pm Wednesday, 8/22/12 at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Dr., Suite E, Ft. Collins. A graveside service, with full military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Grandview Cemetery. His family suggests donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Christopher Reeves Paralysis Foundation in care of Goes Funeral Care.
