James J. Deluhery, 76, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on February 7th, 2010 surrounded by family. He was born November 10, 1933, the second of three sons of Mary Schmidt Deluhery and Edward Tremaine Deluhery in Dubuque Iowa. Jim, as he was known to family and friends, attended Loras Military Academy from which he graduated in 1951 after which he attended Loras College and then the University of Iowa Engineering School, graduating in 1955 with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Retired from Abbot Laboratories in 1992 as the Director of Project Engineering and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1993. Survived by his loving wife Jean M Deluhery of 38 years; Brother's William and David; Daughters Debra Deluhery Smith, Jo Ellen Fulton and Wendy Fulton Adams; Sons Daniel Deluhery, David Deluhery and Eric Deluhery. He is also survived by 5 nephews, 2 nieces,13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Always a believer in higher education he founded the James J Deluhery Engineering Scholarship at the University of Iowa. He was involved in many local community activities and contributed his time and leadership to being an Officer of Golden Kiwanis, Meals on Wheels and the Junior Partners of Colorado. Jim spoke fondly of his seven years as a conductor on the Fort Collins Municipal Railway and being a devout advocate of the Fort Collins Symphony, Bas Bleu Theater. He contributed freely to the Saint Joseph Catholic School. A service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday at the Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. Burial will take place at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa where he will be laid to rest along side his mother and father.
