Beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, James (Jim) Taylor, 82, of Fort Collins, CO passed away Saturday, September 10th at Good Samaritan Village.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 18, 1933 to parents Arthur William Taylor and Georgia Ellen Brain Taylor. He graduated from Doane College and received his Masters of Divinity from Oberlin College in Ohio. Jim's first marriage was to Jeannie Hansen and they had two daughters, Tanya and Sally. He spent most of his career life as a United Church of Christ minister in Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, and Illinois. He also worked in the counseling field in Nebraska and Colorado. January 11, 1980 he married Dorothy and they were married for 36 years.
Jim was an avid Nebraska football fan. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and listening to classical music.
He is survived by his daughters Tanya Smith and her husband Jerry of Lincoln, NE and Sally Bowlby and her husband Wayne of Fort Collins, CO, and his stepchildren, Debbie Haskins and her husband Steve of Denver, CO and Don Farrell and his wife Bridgett of Lincoln, NE, his 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. His brother Frank Taylor, and his wife Marion, reside in Littleton, CO.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (died July 7, 2016), his father, mother, and infant child, Timothy James.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 W. Prospect, Fort Collins, CO 80526. The UCC church, and friends there, were always central in his life. He, and his family, want to thank the wonderful people there for their friendship and support during his illness. He considered Loveland his home as well and we thank his many friends there for their support as well. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Plymouth Congregational Church.
