Jane Miller Goodspeed was born July 4, 1929, in Spring Lake, N.J., to Herbert J. and Madeline M. Miller. Jane graduated from H. W. Mountz School in Spring Lake, N.J., Asbury Park H.S. in Asbury Park, N.J., and Berkley Business College in East Orange, N.J. Jane then went to work for Harper's Jr. Bazaar Magazine in New York City, until her marriage to Henry (Hank) S. Goodspeed, of White Plains, N.Y., on Sept. 9, 1950. Jane was a wife, homemaker, artist, gardener and community volunteer (Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent and Hospice volunteer). Oil painting was a passion; she had a studio in Morrison, Colo., where, for 19 years, she taught children and adults to paint. Jane and her husband moved to Greeley in 1991 to be closer to family. Jane was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley and St. Phillips and St. James in Denver. Before her move to Greeley, Jane was a member of the Denver Art Museum, Foothills Art Association in Golden, The Museum of Natural History and The Smithsonian. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie (John) Roberts of Colorado Springs (previously of Greeley), Kim Harris from Laramie, Wyo.; sister, Ruth M. (Bob) Murphy; three grandchildren, Darcey (Andy) Gipe, Jonathan Roberts, and Sterling Harris; a great-grandchild, Veronica Gipe. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Herb; and a son-in-law. Memorial funeral services will be at 1 p.m. June 7, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
