Janet Kirkpatrick, 85, of Phoenix, AZ, passed from this life on December 20, 2022 in Fort Collins, Colorado, surrounded by family.
Janet was born in Boone, Iowa. Her family relocated to Phoenix where Janet graduated from North High School and Phoenix College. She spent her career serving as a nurse, first at Madison School #1 then continued at the Maricopa County Health Department, beginning in Head Start and retired from Disease Control. After retirement she volunteered for CASA, still finding a way to serve others.
Janet dedicated her life to raising her three children. She cared for her mother through illness and aging. She was a wonderful grandma to her six grandchildren. Janet's caring extended far beyond her own family – to neighbors, friends, even strangers. She was always generous to those in need. Janet loved square dancing and round dancing along with knitting and crocheting. She had a deep compassion for animals, especially cats.
Janet is survived by her children, Russell (Mindy); Jennifer (Gordon); son-in-law, Kirk; and grandchildren, Haley, Kaelyn, Conner, Colton (Nicole), Bram, and Theo; her four great grandchildren; and a wonderful family of neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mary Louise, her brother, Richard, and daughter, Rebecca.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Humane Society in Janet's honor.
