Fort Collins resident Jan Marquette passed away September 15, 2024 in Fort Collins. She was 73 years of age.
Janette Elaine Merrigan was born January 21, 1951 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the daughter of William R. and Dorothea L. (Cox) Merrigan and grew up on the Mirage Flats near Hay Springs, Nebraska. She attended Hay Springs High School, graduating with the class of 1969. She went on to attend Western Nebraska Community College followed by Colorado State University where she received her bachelor's degree.
Jan met Doug Marquette, while attending Western Nebraska Community College. They were married on May 27, 1972 at Mirage Flats, Nebraska and were blessed with a daughter, Elizabeth (Libby). The family made their home in Windsor, Colorado. While Jan and Doug were no longer married, they remained good friends.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Dorothy; her sister, Teri Parker; and Doug Marquette.
Survivors include her daughter, Libby D'Aquila, son-in-law, Joe D'Aquila and her precious grandsons, Frank and Luke D'Aquila of Fort Collins, Colorado; her siblings Bob (Lola) Merrigan of Ohiowa, Nebraska, Wendy Merrigan of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Rich Merrigan of Roswell, New Mexico; along with several nieces and nephews.
Per Jan's request, there will be no services. A memorial fund has been established in Jans memory for her grandsons. Condolences may be sent to:
