Janice Marie Greiner, 68, of Fort Collins, Colorado, was born July 27, 1943, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Bernard Edgar and Ruth Marie (Cox) Wolford. She passed away March 11, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. Jan leaves behind her beloved son and daughter and their families: Michael and Kathryn Greiner, Rachel, Katie and Joshua; Jennifer and Jonathan Downs, Kara, Ava and Hannah; sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Richard Musante; niece Pam Wertz and nephew Tony Musante and their families. Jan was raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Altoona Catholic High School in 1961 and Seton Hill College, Greensburg, PA in 1965. She married her high school sweetheart, Eugene Donald Greiner, on February 12, 1966. They started their family in Savage, Maryland, and later moved to Elizabeth, Colorado in 1974. When not a stay-at-home mom, Jan taught elementary school and preschool, retiring from Hearts in Hand Child Development Center in 2011, where many knew her as Miss Jan. Jan loved her Savior Jesus, and the reminder of His promises with rainbows and butterflies. "Granny Janny" loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed many fun traditions such as releasing "Happy Birthday Jesus" balloons on Christmas morning. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and left us with a sense of joy and peace as she is now on the cruise of her eternal life, the Love Boat, as she let the nurses know when receiving anti-nausea patches similar to those used aboard cruise ships. We would like to express our thanks to all the physicians and health care professionals who provided excellent and compassionate care during Jan's illness. A memorial service will be held on March 24th at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover Street, with reception following.
