Janice Lee (Weisenburger) Sitch age 90 of Fort Collins joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
July 17, 2023.
Jan, as she was known to most everyone, was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota on March 12,
1933, to John and Irma (Maass) Weisenburger. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda
Lutheran Church, Hot Springs, South Dakota. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in
1951.
She married David Donald Sitch on April 2, 1955. They were blessed with three children: Judy,
Jody, and Jack.
Jan and David lived in many locations as David was in the Air Force. They lived in South Dakota,
Japan, California, Texas, Kansas, and Maine before David retired in Rapid City, South Dakota in
1976. Jan was a loan officer for Wells Fargo Bank for 20 years. They moved to Colorado in
2000. Jan was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins and served with
Stephen Ministries.
Jan was an excellent cook and enjoyed having family and friends over for meals. She was
famous for her delicious caramel pecan rolls, deep fried tacos, and lasagna. She was an animal
lover and owned Boston Terriers, a few cats including her favorite tabby cat -- George. They
gave her great companionship and happiness. In 2010, Dave and Jan moved from Windsor to
Fort Collins to live at McKenzie Place Retirement Community and lived there 12 years. She
made many special friends while living there. David passed away, in 2015, during the years they
lived at McKenzie Place. In 2022, she moved into assisted living and finally into long-term care
at Lemay Rehab Center in Fort Collins.
Grateful for sharing life with her are her two daughters: Judy (Tom) Norman, Jody (David)
Griffin, and her son, Jack Sitch, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and her
sister-in-law (Bonnie Weisenburger).
Jan was proceeded in death by her husband, three sisters (Patricia, Annette, Irma) and her
brother (Robert).
