Jason Morgan Messer

Jason Morgan Messer, loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at
home on May 7, 2026, surrounded by his devoted husband and family, exactly as he had wished.
He was 55 years old.

Jason was born on January 12, 1971, in Birmingham, Alabama. Although Alabama would
always hold a special place in his heart, Colorado became home over the last nine years of his
life, including four years in Fort Collins and five years in Timnath.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Messer; his mother, Robbie Hafner; and his
stepfather, Bob Hafner.

He is survived by his loving husband, Dustin Rhoades, with whom he shared a beautiful love
story that began in August 2012. The two were married on December 27, 2013, and later
celebrated their marriage with family and friends on March 1, 2014. Their relationship was built
on love, loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.

Jason is also survived by his sister, Misti Clayton; his niece, Madie Grace Clayton; and his greatnephew,
Grayson Stuart. He was deeply loved by his extended family, including his sister-in-law
Serena Galloway and brother-in-law Lance Galloway; Aspen and Davis Sebald and their sons,
Sylas and Oakley; Bryson Galloway; Sierra Galloway and Christian Trost; and Kaelyn
Galloway. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Isaac Rhoades and wife Cheryl Rhoades, as
well as his father-in-law John Rhoades and wife Elaine Rhoades.

Jason lived life boldly and passionately. He was an entrepreneur at heart with a natural drive and
vision for opportunity. Among his many ventures, he and a friend purchased and restored a large
illuminated billboard atop one of the tallest buildings in Birmingham, later leasing it for
advertising. Over the years, he also owned a video store and a restaurant in Mobile, Alabama,
before eventually becoming a real estate agent. No matter what path he pursued, Jason brought
determination, charisma, and heart into everything he did.

To know Jason was to know someone who genuinely loved people. He was outgoing, social, and
had a gift for making others feel welcomed and valued. He cared deeply for those around him
and was often more concerned about others than himself. He was strong-willed and wonderfully
stubborn, yet also incredibly loving, forgiving, and compassionate. Even during difficult times,
Jason carried a positive outlook and a resilient spirit that inspired those around him.

Jason also had a lifelong passion for cars and could talk endlessly about them with excitement
and knowledge. He especially loved exotic and fast cars, including Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi,
and BMW. Music was another great love in his life, especially the music of the 70s, 80s, and
90s. One of his favorite bands was R.E.M., whose music became part of the soundtrack of his
life.

Above all else, Jason loved his family fiercely. The love he gave so freely, the laughter he
shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, those who loved Jason take comfort in
knowing he left this world surrounded by love, peace, and the people who mattered most to him.
