Jaxon Thomas Cummings (Action Jaxon), 71, died peacefully on March 7, 2013 in Ft. Collins, CO, formerly from Canton, SD.
Jaxon was born in Sioux Falls, SD on April 1, 1941 to John C. Cummings and Bernice Hyatt Cummings.
Jaxon was retired after 16 years in law enforcement. He loved fishing, hunting, and protecting and serving the public.
He worked at Piorer Equipment from 1962 to 1973. His 16 year adventure in law enforcement began in 1973. Jaxon served as Chief of Police in Hartford, SD, Police officer in Canton, SD, Correctional officer at the SD State Penitentiary, Chief of Police in Worthing, SD, Police officer in Alcester, SD, and Chief of Police in Irene, SD.
Jaxon is survived by his sister, Jackie Altwine of Elm Creek, NE. His daughter, Christy(Mike) Rodriguez of Ft. Collins, CO. 5 grand children, Mike Tanfield(Andrea) of Austin, TX, Matt Tanfield(Melissa) of Wellington, CO, Kristin Worley(Skylar) of Ft. Collins, CO, and Jordan and Marisa Rodriguez of Ft. Collins, CO. 2 great grand children, Mikah and Kodah Worley of Ft. Collins, CO. He is also survived by 3 nephews, Rick, Rod, and Randy Altwine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice, and one nephew, Jessie.
A gathering of family and friends will be planned for later this summer.
