Jean P. Arellano

Dec 5, 1943 — Jul 21, 2013

Jean Arellano, 69 of Ft Collins, CO, died July 21, 2013 in Loveland CO. Known by many as the fun and friendly 'lunch lady', loved by everyone she met at Lincoln and Poudre over the years. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 on Saturday July 27, 2013 at St. Josephs Catholic Church 300 W. Mountain Ave, Ft Collins, a private interment will be in Grandview Cemetery following the services.

Jean Gonzales was born December 5, 1943 in Ft Collins to John and Mary Garcia Gonzales. She lived her whole life in Ft Collins, graduated from Ft Collins H.S. in 1961 and married Philip Arellano, the love of her life, on September 5, 1963. After 46 wonderful years of marriage, sadly Phil passed away four and half years ago.

Her job with Poudre R-1 began at Lincoln Jr. High shortly after both kids began school and concluded when she retired from Poudre H.S. as kitchen manager. She ran a successful yet casual catering business in her free time, organizing events, designing and making cakes for graduations, birthday parties and weddings.

Jean not only loved cooking and learning new techniques, she was also a very talented artist. When not creating or learning new things, she truly enjoyed people and all their diversities, a pioneer with an open mind and an open heart, and most of all, loved dancing with Phil.

Jean is survived by her daughter Cindy and husband Kyle Curran of Ft Collins; son Felipe Arellano and partner Richard Cooper of Denver; Brother Ronnie Gonzales; sisters, Lydia Guttierrez, Sylvia Gonzales, Ramona Wilson, Tania Jones, Ruby Olsen; and two grandsons, Cory and Robert. She was preceded in death by her husband Phil and a brother Jerry.
