Jean Terese Oliver, age 81 of Fort Collins, Colorado, died July 20, 2009. A memorial mass will be held 10:30 am Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Blessed John 23rd University Parish. She is to be laid to rest with her husband in Kelseyville, CA. Born to Francis Celila Callahan and Harold Hersey on Nov. 6, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts. Jean was the 6th of 10 children (with 7 brothers and 2 sisters). Jean was raised in Winthrop, MA. And graduated from Winthrop High in 1945. Jean worked for the Telephone Company during high school until she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth C Oliver, who was in the US Navy, in October 1945. After 2 weeks of marriage, Ken's ship was called back to sea. The year he was gone, Jean worked in US Trust Company Bank in Boston. Their life was a wonderful time. Ken and Jean spent 30 years traveling various military stations. Their first child Ken Jr. (Casey) was born in 1947, then came daughter, Michele, born in 1952 and finally son, Greg, born in 1959. They lived in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, California, Hawaii, Guam, and Colorado. While in Guam, Jean was secretary of USCL Officer Wives Club. In Hawaii she was 2nd Trustee of Honolulu Emblem Club at the Elks Club in Honolulu. Her husband of 52 years died in 1997. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth C. Oliver 1st Lt. in the US Army in 1968. She was also predeceased by brothers Robert, James, Arthur, Freddy, Alan (Hersey) and one sister, Carolyn Morgan. Jean is survived by her daughter, Michele (of Kelseyville, CA) and son, Gregory (of Loveland, CO) as well as their respective spouses Greg Rohner and Debra Oliver. Grandsons Zack Zickenberg, Casey, Josh and Scott Oliver, Ethan Rohner and great grandchildren Cailynne Brewer (Zickenberg) and Josiah Oliver. She is also survived by sister Evelyn Keegan, of Texas; brothers Henry and Donald Hersey of Massachusetts as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many, many friends and neighbors. Jean's favorite things to do were crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and reading, Of all the favorite places Ken and Jean lived, Hawaii was her favorite where she would enjoy the sun and beaches of Honolulu.
