Jeanette Hedlund

Jeanette Hedlund left all of her pain behind and entered into heaven on November 28, 2011. Jeanette was born on September 12, 1923 to Ida Mae (Scharper) Mommssen and Julius John Mommssen in Los Angeles, California. She lived in Los Angeles for 3 years then moved to Ravenna, Nebraska. In 1939 Jeanette, her mother, and step-father George Lukert moved to Rockford, Illinois. There she met Ralph Hedlund and they were married on September 12, 1942. They had one daughter, Valarie. Jeanette worked for W.T. Grant as an office manager for 23 years and for Sears Roebuck for 11 years in different capacities in the accounting office in Rockford, Illinois. Following their retirement, Ralph and Jeanette moved to Ft. Collins, CO in 1984 to be close to their daughter Valarie and grandchildren Mark, David, and Pam. Here hobbies were sewing, needlework, and traveling. Besides various trips throughout the United States, her travels included trips to Brazil and England. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills church and was a member of the Silver Singles and did mending for Good Samaritan. She has resided at Good Samaritan for the past 11 years. Survivors include daughter Valarie (Jack) Champion, grandson Mark (Patty) Champion, great-grandson Henry Champion of Dallas, Texas; Grandson David (Melissa) Champion, great-grandchildren Rose and Thomas of Loveland, Colorado; Granddaughter Pamela (Robin) Batchelor, great-grandchildren Megan and Scott of Woldingham, England, and sister-in-law Rosemarie Hedlund of Rockford, Illinois. A very special thanks to the staff of Good Samaritan Village. They took care of Jeanette with loving care for over 10 years as if she was their own Grandmother. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 1st at 2pm in the Sam Ismer Chapel at the Good Samaritan Village, 508 W. Trilby Rd., Fort Collins.
