Jeanne F. Hoag

Jeanne Hoag, a warm, energetic, and joyous person, was born on September 13, 1935, and shared her generous spirit and fun-loving personality with all who knew her until her recent passing. She will be remembered for her friendliness, charm, and the ways she brightened the lives of those around her.

Jeanne is survived by her four sons—Dana, Scot, Craig, and Pat and their partners (Catherine, Cindy, and Huong)—who, along with her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, will continue to celebrate and cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her partner of 20 years, Bob Edmonson, by her parents and six siblings. She shared deep, lifelong bonds with all of her family, including beloved nieces in Colorado that she played cards with on a monthly basis. Jeanne was an exceptional grandmother—always present, always interested, and always full of love. She took her grandchildren on one-on-one trips where she made them feel very special.

As an advocate for community welfare, Jeanne devoted herself to helping those without homes and to promoting lifelong learning. She developed educational programs for seniors and the unhoused, including a class for adults over 80 at her local senior center, where she invited guest speakers to share their stories and experiences. Her dedication to service remains one of her greatest legacies.

Jeanne had a challenged childhood, raised on a simple farm in Utah, as can be seen with her and her lamb in the photo on the main page, then moving to a small town in Nebraska. After high school, she attended business college in Denver where she ultimately pursued a career as an administrative assistant in both business and government. In one position she helped prison inmates matriculate back into society. In another, she helped disenfranchised students at Colorado State University find fulfillment by staying in school. But, before that career, she was hired by Braniff Airlines as a stewardess, where she married Harry Hoag and had her four children in Dallas, Texas. Jeanne loved the performing arts—both as an audience member and as a performer with the Slightly Older Adult Performers (SOAP) theater group.

Jeanne's charismatic presence and compassionate heart will be deeply missed, but her vibrant spirit lives on—in her family, in her community, and in all the lives she so lovingly touched.
