On Saturday night, September 22, Jeff Rehner left this world and all of us are the worse for it.
He possessed many skills and talents and was generous in the sharing of them. A Good Samaritan by nature, Jeff was the first to lend a hand regardless of what tool or task was required. It often made him late somewhere else but that was Jeff.
Jeff could chat up anyone and he could make you laugh even if you were
determined to do no such thing.
He was well read on many subjects and had an astonishing memory for detail. He was a champion of one-liners and recalled relevant quotes from both current and obscure sources. He could assemble facts into solutions whether it involved building, mechanics or public policy. He was a very surprising fellow.
Left to navigate life without him now are his fine sons, Christian and Lars, their mother Anita, a niece Hannah, his sister Diane, and his beloved Barb.
Many in the Martinez Park neighborhood will feel the loss of his light. Smart, kind, cheerful men are hard to come by and Jeff was all that.
A celebration of his life will be held Sat., Oct. 6th at 2:00pm at 415 N Sherwood St.
In the spirit of his memory, we might all respond to each other with compassion whether known or not. Jeff would approve.
