Jeffry Loyd Smith

Jun 30, 1942 — Aug 11, 2013

Jeffry Loyd Smith (Jeff), 71, entered into eternal life on August 11, 2013. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Jeff was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on June 30, 1942 to Don and Bette (Thrailkill) Smith. He attended Appleton West High school and University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. He married Sharon (Pekarske) Smith in Appleton, WI on August 3, 1963.

Jeff served his country in the Army in Korea and worked for over 40 years for Lutheran Brotherhood / Thrivent Financial. He received numerous professional recognitions throughout this career and he loved his career so much that after officially retiring, he quickly returned to the industry recruiting for Northwestern Mutual. A devout man of his Lutheran faith, he also loved the Green Bay Packers, and felt conflicted when church services occurred during game time. Many people knew Jeff well, but many more encountered him in the many small ways he brought light to people's lives. He is the coworker you vent to, the friendly morning coffee orderer, the joking neighbor you pass on your walks, the stranger who will stop and ask you if you are ok.

Jeff was preceeded in death by his father, Donald F. Smith. He is survived by his mother, Bette Lou Smith; wife, Sharon, Children; Stacey (Tim) Towne, Craig (Cheri) Smith, and Krista (Tim) Kliebenstein Weber and grandchildren Kieyla, Alicia, Nicholas, Nicole, Megan, Evelyn, Gable and Nora. He is also survived by his three siblings; Steven (Sylvia) Smith, Diane (John) Splavec, and Jane (Dale) Eppler.

Services will be held Thursday, August 15th at 10:30am at Redeemer Lutheran Church 7755 Greenstone Trail Fort Collins, Colorado 80525. A memorial fund in Jeff's memory will be set up and donations may be made in his name to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
