Jo Ellen Bayard, 82, of Fort Collins, passed away June 7, 2021.
Jo was born in Torrance, California in 1938 to Ralph Gordon Mohr and Mary Ellen Stone (Gerry Mohr).
Jo spent most of her childhood in Los Angeles and Pasadena California, where she attended Wilson High School and Pasadena City College. She earned her degree in Elementary Education from UC Santa Barbara, and worked as a 3rd grade teacher before raising her family. Later in life she worked as a job councilor for the California Employment Department. Jo was married for a time and had two beautiful children, whom she raised by herself. She was also a "foster mom" to many of her children's high school friends, and throughout her life she had many pets whom she cared for and loved very much.
All of her life, Jo was an avid film lover, going back to when she was a child. She regularly attended the movies with her great grandmother "Tiny". When you watched a movie with Jo, she knew the director, the actors, and all the details of the film. She also enjoyed gardening, walking her dogs and collecting baskets, birdhouses, and funky curiosities. Jo was a practical person and witty, keeping up with current events, politics, and the news of the day. Jo's friends and family will remember and miss her energy and her laughter.
In 2011, Jo relocated to Fort Collins and lived across the street from her daughter Shelley and son-in-law Scott. She quickly made connections with the people around her and felt at home in Colorado.
Jo is survived by her son, Tony Bayard de Volo (Anzhela) and daughter Shelley Bayard de Volo (Scott); her sister Donna Carey, brother Rich Mohr, grand-daughter Emily Bayard de Volo, and her many nieces and nephews who cared for her very much. The family is asking that in leu of flowers, a donation be made in her memory to your favorite animal rescue.
