Joe Burton Flora Hoberman, age 92 1/2, died March 28, 2018 in Loveland, CO.

Joe Burton Flora was born at home in Indiana to John Atlee Flora, MD and Beth Flora, R.N. His mother remarried Robert Hoberman in 1944 and Joe took his last name. He attended school in Lafayette and Indianapolis before entering the army in 1944. He served in the Third Infantry Division, 15th Infantry Regiment, Company I as a rifleman, bazooka man, radioman and BAR man in France, Germany and Austria. He attended Butler University and American Graduate School of International Management after WWII and was a lifetime member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

Joe married Suzanne M. Woodmansee in 1952 and became a step-father to her daughter Sara. He started working for Illinois Bell Telephone in 1952 as a service engineer and retired as a Public Relations manager 25 years later. The family lived in Indiana and Illinois before Joe and Suzanne retired to the northern mountains of Colorado in 1977.

He enjoyed golf, reading, road trips, and wordsmithing. Joe had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger, and enjoyed seeing people smile.
He became a Master Mason in 1952 and a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite in 1985. He was an active member in his church and the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He always enjoyed attending the Pamvets breakfast on Saturday mornings.

He is survived by one step-daughter, Sara Berman of Harwich Port, MA; daughters Beth Pitcher of Loveland, CO and Joy and her husband Marc Paquette of Centennial, CO; four grandsons, one granddaughter, and ten great -grand children; brother Stan of Texas, sister Harriet of Tennesee, three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne (2010), brothers Dan (1926), Max (2002), Don (2003) and Jerry (2017).

A celebration of Joe's life will be held Friday April 6 at 2:00 p.m. at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Loveland.
