Joe Philip Mascarenas

Joe Philip Mascarenas, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on April 3ʳᵈ, 2024 at UC Health
Hospital in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 76 years old. He resided in Platteville, Colorado for
the last 22 years.

Joe was born to Pauline Ginnis and Joe Mascarenas in 1947 in Brighton, Colorado. When he was a
toddler, both he and his father began a beautiful new family with Marie Mascarenas. He later raised
his own family in Boulder, Colorado.

Also known as Big Pa, he exhibited many talents throughout his life and leaves behind a legacy of
strong friendships and brotherhood. His love for music bonded him and his brothers as they played
in a band together, with their father being an integral part of that in the earlier years. Joe was
a talented vocalist, guitar and piano player. He also ran a successful business, Northwest
Textures, and worked as a drywall/stucco contractor and custom home builder, retiring in 2021. One
of his greatest talents, however, was his ability to liven up a room with his entertaining nature.
His creativity truly gleaned in many aspects of his life.

Much like the homes he built, each connection Joe created was a customized journey of care, joy,
and laughter. Together with his beloved wife Jackie, they embraced every person who entered their
lives and celebrated together as though they've been a part of the family their whole life.

Joe joins his wife, Jackie in heaven along with his father Joe, mother Pauline, and his siblings
Anna, David, Alex, Rebecca, and George. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel, his son Travis, and
his grandchildren Isaac, Lydia, Reighly, Colton, Quinten, and Dristin. He also leaves behind his
mother Marie, and siblings Sue, Jerry, Thomas, Janet, Nancy, and Linda.

Joe's family is having a celebration of his life on Saturday, April 27ᵗʰ (details below). They
would like to express their sincere gratitude for the incredible support for Joe from friends and
family, and for their continued support for his loved ones. Also, thank you to Goes Funeral Care &
Crematory Inc. for their care and professional managing of affairs during this time of grief.
