John P. Ball

John Patrick Ball passed away in Broomfield, Colorado, on August 10th, 2023. John had spent the last several years fighting cancer, a challenge he approached like all things in his life, with bravery, fortitude, and resilience.

John was born in Casper, Wyoming, to John T. and Lila M. Ball on April 28, 1952. John grew up between Denver and San Francisco. He returned to Colorado and attended the University of Colorado, Boulder for his undergraduate studies before securing his MBA from Wharton Business School.

A man of diverse interests and a vast skill set, John reinvented his professional interests several times throughout his expansive career. John made a significant imprint in the early tech world as a well-respected business executive before founding an investment banking firm in the early 2000s.

In the last years of his life, John worked alongside his wife, Kathie, as a real estate agent. He married Kathie in Boulder, Colorado in 1994. They have four children: Jacqui, Alison, Sarah, and Kevin. John was a devoted father who truly loved having fun with his kids, be it camping trips or movie nights. John embodied the term "jack of all trades." There was not much he couldn't do or wouldn't try. Outside of his work life, John always found time to enjoy nature, whether it was mountain biking, fishing, or spending time on the golf course.

John is remembered by his wife, Kathie Ball, his children, Jacqui Ball, Alison Ball, Sarah Ball, Kevin Ball, his sister-in-law, Michelle Hovorka, and his mother-in-law, Lorraine King at a service held at the Abbey of Walburga, Virginia Dale, Colorado.
