John S. Cupery, age 70 of Fort Collins, CO formerly of Denver, died April 17, 2010 after struggling with progressive supra-nuclear palsy. A funeral service, with full military honors will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 21 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area 'A', 4400 West Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236. John Samuel Cupery was born June 17, 1939 in Valley Springs, SD to Charles and Plona Cupery. He grew up in Beaver Creek, MN and enlisted in the Army in 1961. He also lived in Sioux Falls, SD and Corona, CA, prior to settling in Denver. He retired from Smurfit Stone Container as plant superintendent after 42 years with the company. On June 16, 1998, he married Karla Kae Hansen in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2003 they moved to Fort Collins. John loved fishing, camping, the outdoors and tending his roses. He also enjoyed dancing and watching various sports, especially the Broncos and Rockies. In addition to his wife, Karla, John is survived by his four children from his first marriage, Brian (Dara) Cupery of Las Vegas, Brad Cupery (and partner, Mickey Joseph) of Las Vegas, Chad Cupery (and his children, Breanna, E.B. and Tabitha) of Arvada and Anna Cupery (and her children, McKayla and Ashley) of Broomfield; his mother, Plona Cupery of Beaver Creek, MN; a sister, Charlotte (Barry) Buddi of Omaha, NE; Karla's three children, Lisa (Bryce) Drovdal and their two children Serena & Zacchary of Fort Collins, Lana (Josh) Kinsey of Chico, CA and Corey (Amber Stevens) Hansen of Westminster,; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucy Cupery and his father, Charles.
