Paul "John" Engelbrecht, age 69, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed from this life on Monday, November 28, 2022.
John was born December 11, 1952 to parents Lorraine and Paul John Engelbrecht Sr. in Ogallala, Nebraska, where he grew up and graduated from high school. After high school, John enlisted and served in the Unites States Coast Guard. While in the service, he went to Engineman School in Yorktown, Virginia. He spent some time in Alaska and then was stationed in Ludington, Michigan where he met Cindy Young. The two were married on September 18, 1976 in Ludington.
After his time in the Coast Guard, John worked as a Machinist and Planner, first at the Nebraska Public Power Plant. Then, in 1985, the family settled in Fort Collins, where John worked at Platte River Power Plant until retirement in 2014.
John was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Stephen King books. He also enjoyed working on cars and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
John is survived by his wife, Cindy Ann Engelbrecht (Fort Collins, Colorado); children, Stephanie Anne Jewett and Steve William Gorsett (Elkhorn, NE), Paul John Engelbrecht III (Beverly Hills, FL), and Heather Renae Olin (Loveland, CO); grandchildren, Nicole Elizabeth Jewett (Loveland, CO), Brooke Lynn Jewett and Gage Matthew Johnson (Summerville, SC), and Ava Renae Olin (Loveland, CO); siblings, Shirley Neal (Long Beach, CA), and Connie Ferguson and Chris Ferguson (Grant, NE). He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held in early summer.
