John F. 'Jackie' Martin, 66 of Greeley, Colorado, formerly of Ft. Collins, died April 10, 2008 at Hospice and Palliative Care in Greeley after years of declining health. John Francis Martin was born January 22, 1942 in Dansville, New York to James and Ita Martin. He grew up there and graduated from Dansville High School in 1959. He joined the Navy when he was 17 and was discharged in 1963. Using his GI Bill, Jackie received his B. S. degree in Food Science from the University of Georgia. He worked for R.T. French Company in Rochester, NY for three years before beginning his career as a dairy inspector for the USDA in Litchfield, MN. Jackie was very involved with the Litchfield Jaycees and eventually became a past president of his club. His health forced an early retirement in 1984 so he moved to Fort Collins. On October 14, 1995, Jackie married Linda Henning. Jackie is survived by his sister, Kathy Wager of Fort Collins; his brother, Paddy (and wife, Peggy) Martin of Rochester, NY; brother-in-law, Larry Wager; sister-in-law, JoAnn Martin; good friend, Terry Walsh; nieces and nephew, Kim Kelley, Jill Wilkes, David Martin, Dawn Martin, Amy Wager, Kathleen Martin and Maura Martin; and several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda and his older brother, Danny. His family will greet friends from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, April 15th at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Ste. E, Ft. Collins. His family will recite the Rosary at 7:00. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Mountain and Howes in Fort Collins. Interment with military honors will follow the mass at Roselawn Cemetery at Mulberry and Summitview. Jackie gave to his favorite charities and always to his nieces and nephews.
