John J. Pernicka, 95, long-time resident of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on August 18, 2009. He is survived by his wife Dolores, his children John and Ronald, and four grandchildren. Born April 24, 1914 to John and Antoinette Pernicka in Chicago, IL,John graduated from Harrison Tech. High School, majoring in mechanical drawing. He worked as a carpenter for many years and served as president of Carpenter Union, Local #54, in Chicago. After retiring to Denver in 1974, he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the West and visited many foreign countries. For the past 22 years they lived in Ft. Collins, CO and were very active as volunteers at the Senior Center, making many new friends. John was presented a Community Service Award recognizing his compassion and work at the Center for the community. John will be remembered for his good nature and cheerful spirit and be missed by his many friends. There was cremation and burial at the Grandview Cemetery.
