John Weatherly

John Warren Weatherly, age 82 of Fort Collins, Colorado, died December 3, 2008 at Medical Center of the Rockies. John was born August 17, 1926 in Pipestone, Minnesota to Murry and Johanna Weatherly. He grew up in Pipestone and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He also served in the Korean War. His travels during his military service are among the highlights of his life, and he frequently recounted stories and experiences of his life at that time. In 1952 he married Coneda Desmonia Falls Mongan in Aurora, Colorado. They settled in Fort Collins in 1962 where John worked selling and servicing office machines. He owned and operated Weatherly Office Supplies in Fort Collins for many years. John loved children and volunteered as a little league coach and scoutmaster for many years. He was a longtime member of the Elks as well, working with the Elks Hoop Shoot for many years, and helping with the walkway around City Park Lake. He loved taking long car trips, and summertime always involved a vacation to another part of the country. He is survived by his wife, Coneda; four children, Cindy (Mark) of Newport, Oregon, Jim (Denise) of Lafayette, Tom (Michelle) of Fort Collins, and Susan of Denver. John is also survived by his sister Marianne and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Byron, and sister Wanda. Cremation with no service is being planned for now.
