Joseph "Joe" Dominguez - dedicated husband, father, mentor, and friend of many-passed away from liver cancer on April 23, 2023, at the age of 72.
Joe was born to Joe Dominguez Sr and Cora Trujillo in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was later adopted by his mother, Ruth Dominguez.
Joe attended Poudre High School and left his junior year to serve in the US Army from 1970-1972. After returning from the military, he met the love of his life, Dorothy. This year would mark their 50th wedding anniversary. Joe obtained his GED in 1982. In 1983 he accepted a position working for Poudre School District where he fulfilled his love to serve others as the Head Custodian at Lesher Middle School for 30 years.
Joe was the All-American Dad. Throughout the years he enjoyed fishing, camping, coaching a local softball team, watching sports, supporting his favorite team, The Kansas City Chiefs, mentoring students, cooking for his family and friends, raising his great-grandchildren after retirement, and developing friendships wherever he went. Joe was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. Joe was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dominguez, daughter Amy (husband, Jesse) Keppley, son, Mel Bishop; mother, Ruth Dominguez; brothers, Sammy (wife, Paula) Trujillo, Scott Dominguez, Bill (wife, Dareen) Dominguez, and sister, Judy (husband, Casi) Yanez; seven grandchildren: Anthony Dominguez, Sisco (wife, Shelby) Huerta, Kennedy Dominguez, Marcos Huerta, Nikki Martinez, and Isabella Huerta; and six great-grandchildren, Carlos Dominguez, Atheena Gomez-Dominguez, Aubrianna Dominguez, Aurora Huerta, and Willow Huerta. He was proceeded in death by his mother Cora Trujillo; father, Joe Dominguez; great-grandson, Greyson Huerta, grandson, Alejandro Huerta, son-in-law, David Bishop, and nephew, Aaron Trujillo.
Memorial services will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 300 W Mountain Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80521. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 1:30 pm, followed by a Memorial Mass at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, and a dinner immediately following.
