Joseph William Krueger

d. Oct 16, 2021

Joseph William Krueger died October 16, 2021 in Fort Collins, CO. Joseph was born December 16, 1941, to William Henry Krueger and Loretta Rosalie (Schiferl) Krueger in Arnolds Park, Iowa. He graduated from APHS and spent two years in college before joining the USAF. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and moved to Denver, Colorado. Joseph found a job with AT&T that became a 35-year career.
August 27, 1966, Joseph married Elizabeth Clara Pieper at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Akron, CO. Liz and Jay had four children and adopted two more. They are Daniel Joseph Krueger, Ronald William Krueger, Katherine Marie Zrubek, Debora Susan Salek, Amy Marie-Elizabeth Kruger, and Michael Chester Krueger. There are also thirteen grandchildren. This family is a source of great pride and happiness to Joe.
The happy couple lived in Denver for four years before moving to a small acreage northwest of Ft. Lupton in 1970. In 2013, they moved to Milliken. Joe and Liz, both lifelong Catholics, joined St. Nicholas Parish in Platteville and have been active members for over 50 years. Joe has been on the Parish Council & Building Committee, was a RE teacher, and served in various ministries and committees through the years.
Joe's hobby was woodworking, which he did all of his life starting at an early age at his father's sawmill. He spent more time in his shop after retiring from AT&T in 2000. The most notable project is the altars and some of the sanctuary furniture at St. Nicholas. He was also very proud of the grandfather clocks that he built for his wife and children. Joe loved God and his Church. He loved his wife and family. And he loved the United States of America.
Joe's funeral mass will be at St. Nicholas Catholic, 520 Marion Ave. in Platteville, CO, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, a rosary prayed at 10:30 am, and funeral mass at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. Burial will be Saturday, October 23, 11:30 AM, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Akron, CO. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church (PO Box 576, Platteville, CO, 80651), The Resource Center (822 14th St, Greeley, CO, 80631), or the Knights of Columbus at St. John the Baptist Parish (1000 Country Acres Dr., Johnstown, CO, 80534).
