Judith "Judy" Ann Allison, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025 at the age of 83, while in the care of hospice.
Judy was born on September 15, 1941 in Denver, CO, to Alfred and Freda Meyer. She grew up in Fort Collins, CO, where she attended Fort Collins High School, and lived her entire life. She was a wonderful single mother of two daughters who always put their needs first. Judy worked various jobs, including Fishback Photography in Fort Collins, before endeavoring to put herself through school to earn a secretarial degree in order to support her family. Her first secretarial job was in 1969, working for the Poudre School District. She later worked for Colorado State University, the City of Fort Collins, and the Larimer County Sheriff's office as a dispatcher for many years, earning the respect and love of her co-workers.
Judy was a woman of varied interests, always showing an abiding desire to learn and explore. In her younger years, she enjoyed travel with her daughters. Judy also enjoyed horses, old cars and anything mechanical (often naming them - her car was Nellie) and endeavoring to understand how things worked. Judy collected antiques, books on a multitude of topics (including a medical dictionary which she constantly researched and studied), scores of musical albums, and anything that had to do with cats. Always seeking to learn and improve herself, Judy would create word cards from the dictionary, complete with definitions and pronunciations, so that she could enhance her vocabulary. She was extremely organized, labeling the smallest items, and kept records of every conversation, gift and event that happened in her life. Animals were Judy's passion and any stray cat was taken in and cared for. She could not stand to see anything suffer neglect and gave generously to various charities. She also enjoyed the prairie and scenic drives to look for old houses or windmills. Judy truly delighted in life, had many dear life-long friends, and made an impact on all who knew her and were blessed by her smile and humor.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Lorrie Nelson. She is survived by her daughter, Roxxe (Randy) Wootton of Laporte, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacob (Mindy) Wootton, Joseph (Kassidy) Wootton, Mindy Spence, and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Chet, Misty, Wyatt, Cody, and Sierra.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at the Goes Funeral Care in Fort Collins on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:30 p.m.
