Judith Ann "Judy" Hughes

Jul 29, 1941 — Mar 3, 2024

Judy Ann Hughes passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024. Judy was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Her kind heart and art of conversation will be missed by all who knew her.

Judy was born in Sacramento, CA on July 29, 1941. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education at California State University, Sacramento with an emphasis of Special Education in 1964. During that time, she met her soulmate, Ed Hughes and they were married for over 60 years until he passed away in January 2023.

Judy began her teaching career in Yreka California and continued in the Bay Area of San Francisco before moving to Fort Collins in 1976. There she began her 21-year tenure with Poudre School District at Cache La Poudre Elementary and CLP Junior High, teaching her beloved students until her retirement in 1997.

Judy and Ed were enthusiastically involved with the Northern Colorado Corvette Club and Colorado State Rams Athletics. She was a diehard Ram's fan to the end - "I am proud to be a CSU Ram". She had volunteered with Fort Collins Childrens Theatre for several years. Judy was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Judy is survived by her children: son Ross and wife Louisa, their children Megan and husband Todd and daughter Adalyn, and Patrick and fiancé Meghan; daughter Julie; son Jason and wife Rachael, their children Alexander, Mykaela and husband Nathan, and Morgan and husband Alex.

The remembrance of life will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on May 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM.

The Family of Judy Hughes wishes to thank the incredible medical doctors, nurses, and staff at Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado during her end-of-life support, for both Judy and her family.
