Karen ("Kitty") Peel Gossler, age 75, died peacefully November 4, 2019, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Karen was born in Jacobus, PA, to Clair and Madlin Smith. She graduated from Dallastown Area High School; she also had a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Elizabethtown College and a Master's degree from Penn State University. Karen was in the nursing field for nearly 40 years. In addition to Pennsylvania, she lived in Naples, FL; Sedona, AZ; and Fort Collins, CO. Karen loved to travel; some of her favorite places to visit were Ireland, Greece, Costa Rica, South Africa, and the Galapagos Islands. She also enjoyed spending time with family and volunteering with various organizations, especially libraries.
Karen is survived by her children Christopher Peel of York, PA, and Jennifer Peel of Fort Collins, CO; sisters Bonnie Arnold of Irwin PA, and Pamela Barnhart of York, PA; son-in-law Christopher West of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren Kyle Peel of Mechanicsburg, PA, Kimberly Peel of Mechanicsburg, PA, Rio West of Fort Collins, CO, and Sierra West of Fort Collins, CO; brothers-in-law George Arnold of Irwin, PA, and Dale Barnhart of York, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Clair Foster Smith, and by her mother, Madlin Smith.
A service will be scheduled in Pennsylvania, day and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road, Sedona, AZ, 86336.
