Kathy Winder passed away at age 93, September 30, 2024, in Ft. Collins, Colorado from congestive heart failure. She was predeceased by her husband, Dale R. Winder, and her brother, William S. Dill.
Kathy was loved and admired and will be missed by her family and friends. Kathy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Michael Dill (Carol Jablonski), Thomas (Barb) Dill, Kathleen E. Dill, G. Patrick Dill, Tom Knutson, and Scott Knutson, grand-nephews John Dill and Chris (Deanna) Dill, and grand-nieces Alex Dill and Beth Dill. She is also survived by her cousins-in-law Kay Beck and Carol Billieux.
Kathy was born July 20, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Richard and Rebanis (Sisler) Dill. She grew up with her brother Bill in Alexandria, Nebraska and graduated from Alexandria High School. She married Dale R. Winder on June 7, 1953, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska studying philosophy. Kathy earned her Master of Social Work at Western Reserve University in Ohio and was a social worker for Larimer County for 29 years, retiring as division administrator. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters for over 50 years. Kathy was also a long-time devoted member of the Foothills Unitarian Church.
Kathy enjoyed traveling all over the world with Dale. They loved hiking and skiing, both downhill and cross-country. She climbed Longs Peak with Dale and was a long-time member of the hiking-skiing group, the FCUPs. Also, she and Dale each earned pilot's licenses and flew small airplanes. They enjoyed classical music, theater, and art. She loved collecting art and was an avid amateur photographer.
Kathy Winder's memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 2 pm, at the Foothills Unitarian Church in Ft. Collins. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to your favorite charity.
