Kathryn Ann Quan

d. Apr 15, 2023

Kathryn "Kay" Ann Quan was born November 14, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Adelphia Ellen Lamb and Herman A. Glass. She graduated from High School and college at St. Mary of the Woods, IN and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at St. Mary of the Woods College, IN. Later, she earned a Master's degree in Education at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.

Kay entered the novitiate at St. Mary of the Woods Motherhouse and was a Sister of Providence for 21 years. She taught music, choir, and elementary grades at various schools in Indiana, Illinois, California, and Colorado. Kay was a Pastoral Associate for Holy Cross Church in inner city Indianapolis, IN for several years prior to leaving the convent.

She married Dr. Thomas Quan on October 12, 1974 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins, CO. She was mother to foster children, David and Paula Legleiter. She was an active parishioner at St. Joseph's serving in a number of capacities. She was active in the Fort Collins Symphony Guild (now Friends of the Symphony) for which she served on several committees culminating in President. Her work for the Guild led to her nomination for and membership on the Symphony Board of Directors. Again, her work led to the Presidency of the Symphony Board. Kay joined the Livermore Woman's Club after she and Tom bought the "old" Livermore Hotel in Livermore, CO, as a private residence. She also served as President of the Club. They improved this property and in a couple years succeeded in getting it placed on the National Registry of Historic Places. After 18 years they returned to Fort Collins.

Kay enjoyed her family and friends; needle work; gardening; and her "puppy dogs": Cagey, Diamond, Dandy, Toby, and Lucky.

She is survived by her brother James Glass of Edmonds, WA, her triplet sisters Mary Runnion of Agra, KS, Agnes Glass of Loveland, CO, and Hilda Dennis of Ellensburg, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Thomas, parents Adelphia and Herman, her brothers Herman Glass Jr. and John F. Glass Sr. and her sister Judith Cass preceded Kay in death.
