Kim Peters

Sep 15, 1971 — Mar 20, 2008

Kimberly Beth Peters, 36, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism on March 20, 2008 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Kim was born on September 15, 1971 in Thousand Oaks, California. She attended Honey Tree Nursery School, Wildwood Elementary, Redwood Intermediate, Thousand Oaks High School, and California Lutheran University. Upon graduating with honors from CLU in 1993, Kim's wanderlust and free spirit took her first to Washington DC working for the Cellular Telephone Industry Association. She returned to California for a few years working in various fields before moving to Flagstaff, Arizona where she worked in apartment property management. On a vacation, she fell in love with Colorado and the town of Fort Collins.      Kim loved the outdoors, especially hiking and biking. She loved animals and always had a cat or two in her life. Horses were a passion and she dreamed of having one for her own someday. She loved politics and always had an opinion about everything - and was never shy about sharing it. Kim was a joy and fun to be around and could always come up with a great one-liner, zinger, or thoughtful insight. Kim is survived by her parents, Steve and Linda Peters of Thousand Oaks; sister/best friend Jennifer Murray of San Diego; Grandfather Eldon Berens of Lancaster, California; Uncles and Aunts: Chris and Lynn, Bob and Ann, Dave and Linda, Bob and Karen; numerous cousins; new and long-time friends. A special thank you to Mary, Kim's boss at the Fort Collins Board of Realtors, for realizing something was wrong and putting the wheels in motion when Kim did not show up for work. Her vigilance and concern are greatly appreciated. Thank you to Officer Nace and her fellow officers for their quick response and to Diane Fairman, Chief Deputy Coroner, for her professionalism and compassion. Special care for Kim was provided by Chris Goes of Goes Funeral Care. Thank you so much. Another special thank you to Kim's friend Vicki for immediately stepping up to provide a new home for Kim's faithful and beloved kitty, Pooster. Finally, special words of gratitude to the City of Fort Collins that so captivated Kim and embraced her as one of its own. In keeping with Kim's wishes, no service will be held and her cremated remains will be scattered in the mountains she so loved. If you wish to make a donation in Kim's memory, please consider Larimer Humane Society, Colorado Horse Rescue, or an animal assistance group of your choice.
