Kurt David Mccracken

Kurt David McCracken, 56 of Loveland, Colorado died August 11, 2013 at his home. Kurt was born Feb 21, 1957 to Dr. Robert, DC and Virginia (Sagel) McCracken in Fort Morgan, CO. His lifelong work ethic was evident as a youngster working on his uncle's sugar beet farm in the summers.

He graduated from Ft. Morgan High School and obtained a degree in business administration from CSU in Fort Collins. Upon graduation in 1980, Kurt began a career with DOW Chemical Company as an inside sales trainee in Boston, MA and then a salesman in Seattle, WA. He was promoted to a Magnesium Product Manager in Midland, MI and then was named Dow's Global Phenol Product Manager, also in Midland, MI. He was promoted to District Sales Manager in St. Louis, MO with administrative responsibility for the office. In 1993 he left Dow and was recruited by a St. Louis plastics company as their Director of Sales and Customer Service.

In 1999 Kurt and his family returned to Colorado where he established an investment advising business in Loveland. He said he never wanted to serve a McDonald's Happy Meal when what people needed was an investment plan. Kurt became actively involved in the Loveland Lion's Club, serving as president in 2008-2009.

Kurt will be remembered for his strong presence, his sense of humor, his integrity and his ability to provide for others and get things done. He was a lover of animals, nature and his family, whom he was devoted to.

Kurt leaves his three children, Isaac, 26, Leah, 23, Kelly, 19 and his wife of 33 years, Susan Caldwell McCracken- all of Loveland. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia McCracken of Loveland, his brother Shaun McCracken of Dallas, TX, his sisters, Jan (Dan) Schiller of Fort Morgan, Jill (Tony) Marcattilio- McCracken of St. Cloud, MN; former sister-in-law Charlotte McCracken of McKinney, TX; and nieces and nephews in CO, MN, TX and WA.
