Laura Bunch

November 2, 1980 – September 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Bunch, who passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband, children, mother, father, and family friends.

Laura's life was defined by love. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Whether you knew her as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, hairstylist, neighbor, client, or friend, chances are Laura left a lasting impact on your life. She built friendships that lasted decades, turned clients into family, and created a community of people who felt fortunate to know her.

Born in Seoul, South Korea on November 2, 1980, Laura often reflected on the struggles of her early years in Korea. At the age of seven, she was adopted and came to the United States, where she built her dream life filled with love, purpose, and meaningful relationships.

Above all else, Laura was devoted to her family. She met her husband, Kenny, through mutual friends in 2009, and they were married on June 15, 2013. Together they built a beautiful life centered around love, friendship, and family. Their children, Stella and Gavin, were the center of Laura's world. Being their mother was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. Every important decision she made was guided by her love for her family and her desire to create a life full of memories with them.

Laura had a contagious laugh, a quick wit, and a feisty spirit that people adored. She loved her sense of fashion, coffee dates with friends, spontaneous lunches, and making memories with the people she loved. She enjoyed traveling, especially on recent family trips to Maui and Disneyland, as well as spending time in the Colorado mountains, with Breckenridge and Steamboat among her favorite places. She never needed a special occasion to gather people together and had a gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.

Her beloved four-legged members of the family, Bruno and Diego, held a very special place in her heart. Even when her health made it difficult, she continued to worry about them and wanted to make sure they were cared for and walked every day.

Before her cancer diagnosis, her career as a hairstylist fulfilled her in many ways. She spent more than twenty years working as a hairstylist. For many people, Laura was far more than their hairstylist. She was a confidant, counselor, cheerleader, and friend. She remembered the details of people’s lives, celebrated their successes, listened through difficult seasons, and developed friendships that lasted well beyond a salon appointment. Her chair was a place where people felt welcome, understood, and cared for.

In 2020, Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over the years that followed, she endured surgeries, treatments, radiation, clinical trials, and more challenges than most people could imagine. Yet her illness never defined her. What made Laura extraordinary was not only the strength she showed in facing cancer, but the way she continued to show up for others while doing so. She encouraged fellow patients, supported families facing difficult diagnoses, volunteered her time and energy to help others, and never stopped asking how someone else was doing, even on the hardest days of her own journey.

Friends frequently tell stories of Laura sending encouraging messages, delivering thoughtful gifts, checking in on those who were struggling, and helping other cancer patients navigate their own battles. Time and time again, she chose compassion over self-pity and service over self-focus. Her love for others remained constant.

Laura is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Bunch; her beloved children, Stella and Gavin; her parents, Kenneth and Leslie Howie; her brothers, Justin and Tom; her extended family; and countless friends, clients, neighbors, and loved ones whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.

While cancer became part of Laura's story, it never defined who she was. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, humor, strength, unwavering love for her family, and the extraordinary way she made people feel. Her greatest legacy lives on in the people she loved, the friendships she nurtured, the family she cherished, and the countless lives she touched.

Laura was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
