Laura Louise Gates, known affectionately as Kitty, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2023, at Prestige Care Center in Fort Collins, CO. She was born on June 12, 1925, in New York City, NY, to her late parents Helge and Esther (Johnson) Brahm. She was raised in Patchogue, NY and Providence, RI. After dropping out of high school at age 17 she was able to complete her studies and receive a diploma from Fort Collins High School in 1979.

Kitty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill in 1973 and her son Michael in 2006. She was also predeceased by her siblings Barbara, Irma, Betty, Beatrice, Freemont, Ernest (Bud), Gail and half brother Walter.

Kitty will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Special Gram). Her unwavering faith in her Christian beliefs were a guiding light throughout her life. She was a long time member of The Bridge Church (formerly Bethel Baptist) in Fort Collins, CO.

Kitty had a special affection for animals, especially dogs and cats, and found comfort in their companionship. In her leisure time, she enjoyed counted cross stitch and knitting, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her loved ones for generations.

Professionally, Kitty worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Spring Creek Nursing Home, where her compassionate care brought comfort to many. She also provided cleaning services for special clients, ensuring their homes were a sanctuary of cleanliness and order.

Kitty leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her sons Karl (Kris) of Fort Collins, CO and Ken of Denver City, TX, as well as her grandchildren Keith (Amy) of Olathe, KS, Jennifer (Jim) of Independence, MO, Michael (Michelle) of Larkspur, CO, and Stephen (Jen) of Fort Collins, CO.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Max & Megan (Olathe, KS), Jaxson (Overland Park, KS), Nick (Larkspur, CO), Kendall, Charlotte & Marshall (Fort Collins, CO). Laura's daughter-in-law Bonnie (Overland Park), niece Lisa Brahm (Cincinnati, OH), and dear friends Pearleen Morrison and Susie Turk held a special place in her heart.

Graveside services will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Laura's memory, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by this devastating illness.

The family has entrusted Goes Funeral Care in Fort Collins, CO, with the arrangements, ensuring that Kitty's final journey is conducted with the utmost respect and dignity.

Kitty will be deeply missed. Her unwavering faith, devotion to family, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered and cherished. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of her Lord and Savior.

A graveside service for Kitty will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, CO.
