Laura Studer: Constant Kindness

Laura Studer is lovingly remembered for her warm, kind and gentle heart. She adored people and life, and leaves behind a legacy of positive impact on those she encountered during her 60-year adventure upon this Earth. While battling illness in recent years, Laura was blessed to receive massive outpourings of love that buoyed her and allowed additional time for many fond farewells. She transitioned on March 7, 2020, at her home in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Born in Washington State, 'Laurie' was youngest of 5 children born to Ervin and Genrose (Theisen) Studer. She spent her childhood in St. Cloud, Minnesota, surrounded by a large and loving extended family. After graduating with High Honors from Technical High School ('78), she earned a B.S. degree in Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University ('85). Laura formed friendships in college that lasted throughout her lifetime.

After graduation, Laura moved to the Twin Cities and accepted an entry level position with Pillsbury (later purchased by General Mills) that changed constantly during the 27 years she provided technology integration services and support. She was an active member and supporter of Lake Harriet Spiritual Community in Minneapolis for many years, and was a friend and organizer to both local and national metaphysical communities. Ever the songbird, Laura took great joy in singing with Calliope Womens Chorus in Minnesota, and more recently with Harmony: A Colorado Chorale. She performed onstage at Lincoln Center for the Arts in New York City in 2017! She loved traveling with family and friends, visited many beautiful places and countries, and longed to travel more.

Laura is survived by her wife, Diana Wilson; their daughters, Alison and Rebecca Kingseed; brother, William P. Studer (Kathy); sister, Marleen Looyen; sister, Vicki Vogel; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended/adopted family. She is pre-deceased by her parents, brother Darol Studer (Ellie), and niece, Lisa Martinson.

Laura was calm and steadfast in her kindness. A star this constant will continue to shine on in our own hearts and memories, influencing our actions and reminding us to be gentle with others.

At a date and time to be announced later, when it is considered safe to travel and gather, you will be invited to a celebration of Laura's life at Foothills Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Collins.
