Laurel Shefferd

Dec 4, 1950 — Nov 29, 2015

Laurel Shefferd passed away on November 29, 2015. She was born December 4, 1950 in Denver, CO and was the daughter of Robert and Lois Shefferd. She was the youngest of three children with two older brothers. Laurel was a big fan of art, music, books, go-carting and human rights. Her mother introduced her to painting at a young age. Laurel was a big fan of Frida Colla, the famous Mexican Painter. She also liked comedy and NCIS police shows.

One work related story, Laurel worked at Caribou Ranch in Nederland, CO in the mid 1980's. Caribou Ranch was a recording studio and had many up and coming stars (such as Tom Petty) pass through there. Her tasks were many, from cleaning, to driving a limo to helping the guests. One day Laurel was invited to take a helicopter ride. The pilot assured her she would not be fired. She went up for a ride and when she came down her boss fired her. I think most people would have taken the ride as well.

Laurel was also a Certified Nursing Assistant and construction worker. Her father had a construction company and she gained many of her skills working for and watching him. She was very smart and hard working.

Laurel is survived by her husband, Rene Smith and has two daughers, Michelle Gisi and Sarah Coffey. She also has three grandchildren, Sidney and Finley Gisi and Vincent Coffey. She was a great friend and wonderful wife. I loved Laurel very much. Rene
