Lawrence "Larry" St. Onge
November 25, 1937 – October 23, 2013
Lawrence 'Larry' Earl St. Onge, 75, peacefully passed away at home on October 23rd 2013. He was a prominent inspector for the State of Iowa Department of Agriculture, who was bestowed an award from the Governor of Iowa, Department of Agriculture. Larry's professional career also includes a Quality Control Manager for Ralston Purina and Agricultural Sales for the Consumer Supply Company in Sioux City, Iowa. He was known for his humor and prided himself on teasing his friends.
A native of Iowa, Lawrence graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City, Iowa and shortly after graduation, he along with his twin brother Leo Vincent St. Onge, enlisted in the Coast Guard. Larry actively served for four years of duty and four years of inactive duty in Texas. Realizing the importance of an education, Lawrence attended evening classes at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Larry had many interests and enjoyed various outdoor activities; golf, hiking skiing, biking and traveling, being his favorites. He was on the church council at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa and he was a dedicated coach for the church basketball team. Faith and family were the most important part of his life. Larry was a member of Rejoice Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska and currently, a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Lawrence was the son of Albert and Edith St. Onge and brother to four sisters; Bertice, Georgia, Pat and Janice and two older brothers; Curly and Walter. Lawrence was happily married to his lovely wife Patricia 'Pat' Coil on September 3rd, 1965. Lawrence is survived by his wife Pat; daughter Kristi Lee O'Dea; and son, Lawrence Scott St. Onge; brother, Leo Vincent St. Onge and grandchildren: Jason St. Onge O'Dea, Alexis Marie St. Onge, Eric Scott St. Onge, Michael and Christopher Andrepont; and great-grandchildren, Drake Andrepont and Ford John Andrepont. Lawrence and Patricia are preceded in death by their other daughter, Julene St. Onge Spiller and Lawrence's parents, Albert and Edith St. Onge and all of his beloved siblings, with the exception of his surviving twin brother, Leo Vincent St. Onge.
His funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, November 1st, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Memorial funds are established at Redeemer Lutheran Church for a Memorial Bench for the new Columbarium.
