Leeann B. Funk

LeeAnn Barnard Funk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 89 on April 1, 2025. LeeAnn arrived in this world on August 5, 1936 in Amarillo, Texas as the eldest of three daughters born to Robert E. Barnard and Jean Stubblefield Barnard. She spent most of her childhood in Denver, Colorado, then moved to Fort Collins to attend college at Colorado State University, where she met her husband, Howard D. Funk. LeeAnn and Howard were married in 1957 and ultimately settled in Fort Collins where they raised their four children.

LeeAnn and Howard lovingly raised their children and grandchildren to appreciate the importance of family, nature, hard work, travel, compassion, friendship, and laughter over a good meal. LeeAnn was known for her amazing skills in sewing, needlework, and other handicrafts, which blessed her family with bridal gowns and many other handmade gifts over the years. She was keenly intelligent and quick witted, which made her a coveted trivia partner and occasionally manifested in a perfectly hilarious insult to a politician or driver less talented than she.

LeeAnn will be sorely missed but her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Howard, who passed in 2013, and her daughter Kristin, who passed in 2018. She is survived by her daughters Melissa Funk and Laurie Cook (Tim), and her son Darrell Funk (Teresa), her ten grandchildren, Stephanie Howard (Noah), Nicholas Howard (Dena), Tyler Funk (Nicole), Dustin Funk, Courtney Funk, Tara Barton (Kyle), Kristi Cook, Monte Cook, Gertride Funk, and Claudia Funk, as well has her two great-grandchildren Zoey and Jaxon. She is also survived by her two sisters, Judy (Van) and Katie (Dave).

We will have a memorial in the Summer where all of the family can gather and celebrate Mom/Grandmommy/Great Grandmommy! We would also like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Centre Avenue Health Facility who provided such loving care for LeeAnn over the past two years, as well as a special thanks to Brenna, Tessa, Sierra and others from Pathways Hospice for all of their care and guidance for LeeAnn and our family for the past 4 months. In lieu of flowers, we would love for donations to be made to Pathways Hospice in remembrance of LeeAnn so they can continue their journey helping other patients and families in the future.
