Leland "Lee" Sanford Inscho Jr.

Lee Inscho , 94, passed away Feb 4, 2018 at the VA Community Living Center in Cheyenne Wyoming. He was born July 23rd, 1923 in Basin Wyoming to the late Leland and Doris Inscho. Lee is preceded in death by his wife Liz, his daughter Linda Osborne and son Mark Inscho and survived by his sons Tom (Bonnie) and Jay Inscho and daughters Donna Inscho-Hynes and Jodi Ashley (Mitch). Lee and Liz had six children, ten grandchildren, several great and a couple great great grandchildren. They also were foster parents for infants for several years while they lived in Boulder County. His family was always his greatest joy in life.
He spent most of his childhood in and around Hobart Indiana and eventually in Wilmington, Delaware. He served in the Army during WWII. He was with the 104th Infantry Division, in combat in Holland, captured in Oct 1944, held as a POW until he escaped in April of 1945. Back home he met his future wife Elizabeth Crossgrove. They were married in August 1946 and enjoyed fifty seven year of marriage before her death in April 2003.
After graduating from Delaware University with a degree in Engineering, Lee started his professional career as an Electrical Engineer at General Electric in Schenectady NY. From there he went to Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, CT. In 1960 he moved his growing family to Broomfield, CO. His last twenty four years of a professional engineering career were spent with Gates Rubber Company, while living for a time in Evergreen and Green Mountain. In retirement he spent several years working for Porter Industries in Loveland CO. In his retelling of his life he always comments on the many satisfying relationship he had during all of his working career.
Throughout his life Lee loved music. He was an accomplished musician playing both flute and piano with great skill and composing several original pieces. Spending time camping, hiking and fishing in the Colorado mountains was a great joy to him. He was also an inventor. He had several patents and was always trying to find a way to turn his ideas into successful products. In all he was a person who was curious about everything and thought deeply about life. He will be remembered for his kindness, optimism, humor and most people will say that he was a genuinely nice guy.
A celebration of life service will be arranged for the spring when it can be held outside in the mountains he loved so much.
