Lila Pearle Clinton
October 1, 1922 – April 16, 2015
Born Lila Pearle Bowman on October 1, 1922 in Russell Springs, Kansas to Charles and Nannie Bowman. Up to the age of three Lila rode throughout the Southern United States in the back of a large farm truck accompanying her family while they picked crops to get them through a very depressing time in our country. When Lila was three, the Bowman family (eight brothers and sisters) eventually settled in Hay Springs, Nebraska and Charlie opened a poultry business. Lila attended the Hay Springs school where she eventually taught at the one-room school house at the age of sixteen. When World War II came roaring in Lila joined the Coast Guard and served in Brooklyn, New York where she developed a life long love of the Brooklyn Dodgers (eventually becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers). Lila married Joseph Clinton after the war in Billings, Montana and they soon moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked for years as an accountant in addition to serving in the real estate business with both sales and broker licenses. Lila moved to Fort Collins in her early 60s where she continued to work as an accountant for local builders well into her 70s. She was a life-long Denver Broncos fan known to personally call and write them with very specific advice when she felt they needed the assistance. She is survived by her sons Dan (DeeDee) and John, her daughter Kathy and her granddaughter Kristin (BJ) and her adored great grandchildren Boston and Skye. Adored by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and dear friends, Lila will be deeply missed and we will ALWAYS have her in our hearts. In memory of Lila, charitable contributions can be made to the Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity organization: Contact person, Kristin Candella, Executive Director, 970 488-2602.
All are welcome to attend a celebration of Lila's life at the Vineyard Church (in the Outback Room) with Pastor Hans Breuer at 1201 Riverside Ave, Fort Collins, Saturday, April 18th, 2 p.m. Reception immediately following at Kristin Candella's.
