Linda Kay Bush passed away in her sleep in the early morning of Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 at her home in Ft Collins, Colorado. She died from heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia.
Kay was born on December 10th, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Lorene & Emmett Sullivan. She had an older brother named Gary Sullivan. Kay went to Everman Texas High School and got a bachelor's degree in MesoAmerican Anthropology at University of Texas in Austin. She graduated as a registered nurse at UT Fort Worth. She first worked at Parkland Hospital in Dallas as an ICU nurse. After her marriage she worked in San Antonio at the Robert B Green Clinic. She worked as a registered nurse with her husband at his private medical practice of internal medicine until she retired in 2007.
She married her college sweetheart, Dr. James F Bush in Dallas, Texas on May 24th, 1980. They had two children, James I Bush and Kathy Bush. Their daughter Kathy married her husband, Duy Nguyen, in June 2021.
Her hobbies were archeology, art, sewing, gardening, knitting, and reading. Kay's first love was archeology. She was always reading books about ancient civilizations from around the world. She maintained her love of archeology in her adulthood by continuing her reading and teaching her children what she learned. She always had a natural curiosity for the world and pursued her interests.
Kay did much of the homesteading lifestyle, from growing her own fruits and vegetables to canning her harvest, baking bread at home, and sewing new clothes and knitting in the winter months. Kay learned how to cook any game meat that her husband and children harvested in the hunting season into a variety of meals.
She was a devoted mother and wife. She was always there for the family as she was the emotional rock that each one of us leaned on for comfort.
