Born March 17, 1936 in Greeley, Colorado (La Colonia), grew up and married in Denver. In Denver he graduated from Annunciation High School in Denver and graduated from Regis College in Denver. He was a loving husband for 50 years to Molly Ortiz and loving father to their five children: Michael Ortiz, Melinda (Patrick) Slade, Patrick (Barbara) Ortiz, Christopher Ortiz, and Adam (Tonya) Ortiz. Lloyd and Molly had eight grand children Joseph Slade, Andrew Slade, Carina Slade (Melinda), Thomas Ortiz, Leah Ortiz, Zachary Ortiz (Patrick), Collin Ortiz, Cory Ortiz (Adam). Lloyd is also survived by his two siblings Edwina (Ralph) Gillette, and Gerald Ortiz, and relatives. He was a professional musician for many years in Denver. His government job transfers took him and his family to several states and ended with 36 years in Tucson Arizona. Throughout his life he loved and enjoyed doing work for God by helping others in many ways, at church, community, employment, friends, neighbors, developmentally disabled children and much more. He enjoyed music, fishing, tennis but most of all being with his family.
