Lois Mae Loomis

Jan 23, 1926 — Oct 6, 2015

Lois Mae Loomis, 89 of Fort Collins passed away on October 6, 2015. Lois was born on January 23, 1926 to Glenn and Fleda (Ransdell) Caster in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She was raised with one sister, Alice in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating from South High School, Lois worked for the telephone company. She worked there until she met Hugh K. Loomis and they were married on April 10, 1946.

Hugh was from Wheatland, Wyoming, so they began their marriage, living and working on the Loomis Family Ranch. After 11 years, they returned to Omaha where Hugh worked and raised their three children.

Both Lois and Hugh were active members of Harvey Oaks Baptist Church and served the Lord formany years and had many wonderful friends there. Lois enjoyed teaching Sunday school, preparing meals for church activities, but most of all, taking care of her grandchildren as often as she could. She was a very kind, loving and gentle lady who had an amazing talent for cooking meals for family and friends. In 1995 Hugh and Lois moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to be near their daughter and her family.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Hugh K. Loomis; sister, Alice Winona Gernandt and her parents, Glenn and Fleda Caster.

She is survived by her son, Mike L. (Diane) Loomis of Davenport, Iowa; daughter, Susan M. (Jack) Lawson of Fort Collins, Colorado and son, William H. Loomis of Pepin, Wisconsin. Three grandchildren, Christopher J. Loomis, Scott L. (Lucia) Lawson and Kaela M. Lawson. One great grandson, Michael E. Loomis.

A memorial celebration and family gathering is planned for a later date with private interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
