Lois Loretta Rasmussen

Feb 4, 1929 — May 26, 2014

Lois Ryan-Grashorn-Rasmussen, 86 of Fort Collins, died May 26, 2014 at her home. She was born in Platteville, Colorado, where she spent her childhood, until she was 14 years old; she moved with her family to Nebraska. Later, Lois met and married Edward Grashorn. Together, they became the proud parents of five sons and moved the family to northern Minnesota, where they raised their family on a farm.

Lois and Edward divorced, but soon she found love again and married Everett Rasmussen in International Falls, Minnesota. From this marriage, Lois and Everett were blessed with the birth of their daughter and lived in Minnesota for awhile, before her life changed again. Lois divorced Everett and she moved back to Fort Collins and worked as an LPN at Poudre Valley Hospital.

Lois was a very talented, loving and devoted mother. She loved gardening, cooking and canning; she was well known for her fried chicken and apple pie. She was a member of the Women of the Fort Collins Moose Lodge for years and it was here that she taught her beloved daughter, Sheila to dance. The most important part of her life, was her devotion to her children and being the best mom she could. As a result, her sons are excellent cooks. Lois loved her grandkids dearly and they spent many nights and weekends at her home. Lois was much loved and will be missed!

She is survived by her sons, Joseph (and Linda) Grashorn of Punta Gorda, FL; Paul (Jacqueline) Grashorn of Cheyenne, WY; Patrick (Rose) Grashorn of Burns, WY; daughter, Sheila Hoke of Fort Collins, CO; ten grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by sons, John Grashorn; Peter Grashorn; her parents and seven siblings.
